What is a PAN Card ?

The full form of PAN is Permanent Account Number. PAN number is an unique identification number assigned to all taxpayers in India. A PAN number is a 10 digits alphanumeric number. The PAN number acts as a primary key for storage of information and is shared across the country.

Who is eligible for a PAN Card ?

According to the Income Tax Act, if someone comes under the following category can eligible for a registration :

Documents for a PAN Card :

How to apply for a PAN Card ?

Online Application Process :

Step 1 : Visit NSDL or UTIITSL website.

Step 2 : Fill the given form then submit and pay the processing fee.

Step 3 : PAN will be sent to the given address after some days.

Offline Application Process :

Step 1 : Take the application form from the authorized center.

Step 2 : Fill the given form then submit it with all the required documents and pay the processing fee.

Step 3 : PAN will be sent to the given address after some days.

How to update or edit the PAN Card details :

Follow the below steps to update the PAN details 

Step 1 : Visit the NSDL website.

Step 2 : Select on “Changes or Correction in the existing PAN Card.”

Step 3 : Fill the form with the required documents and submit it.

Do’s and Don’ts for filling the PAN Card update form :

  1. You have to make sure that the form is filled in capital letters.
  2. Filled the mandatory information.
  3. Give your correct phone number through which you can get messages regarding your updates.
  4. Check your details again before submitting the form.
  5. Avoid using salutations like Mr., Mrs., Miss etc.
  6. Submit the relevant documents only.
  7. Give the correct and appropriate address.

What is the cost of a PAN Card ?

The charges applied on a PAN is 93 rupees for Indian transactions and bank payment charges and GST are applied to this transaction.

PAN Card validity :

PAN Card valid till lifetime.

Lost PAN Card :

If you lost your PAN, there is nothing to worry about. You can get a Duplicate PAN Card online or offline. To apply for a duplicate PAN you have to again visit the NSDL or UTIITSL website. Fill the form 49-A for Indian citizens and 49-AA for foreigners. Make the payment and you will get your duplicate PAN within 45 days.
